Gypsum, Colorado

Overview:

The town of Gypsum is located at an elevation of 6,334 feet, between Glenwood Springs and Vail, and is named for the vast deposits of gypsum surrounding the community. The first known settlers to this area in 1881 established many businesses such as a general store, hardware store, saloon, restaurant, and a blacksmith's shop. The town was incorporated in 1911. This popular area today has roughly 6,500 residents and is a great rocky mountain town to explore the outdoors.

Surely a town with the slogan "Live, Work, Play and Be Healthy" must be a wonderful place to reside. Enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, camping and so much more during the warmer months. There's no shortage of activities in the winter, with skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice fishing. A plethora of community activities too, including Gypsym Daze which is the town's signature summer festival, and Friday Night Party in the Park which features a family friendly outdoor movie and band.
