South Fork, Colorado

Overview:

Nestled in the San Luis Valley, South Fork is one of the youngest towns in the state, achieving incorporation in 1992. However, the Ute Indians settled in the valley in 1868. It was originally known as a railroad stop where passengers could stretch before continuing on to northern destinations. The town also profited from agriculture by growing vegetables such as peas, potatoes, cauliflower and lettuce, as well as saw mills supplying timber to the growing railways and mining districts.

Attractions:

Experience everything an outdoor enthusiast dreams of: hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, golf, horseback riding, and camping. During the winter months enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and more. South Fork is also home to the Silver Thread Scenic Byway where you can enjoy the history and surrounding scenery that follows old toll roads, stagecoach lines and railways.

Real Estate:

An abundance of mountain properties are to be had here, whether they are residential homes or vacant land to build that dream home. Condos and townhomes are rarely seen, however, mobile and manufactures homes are available.
