Mead is a small town northeast of Longmont in southwestern Weld County. Mead was the original site of Highlandlake community, one of the first farm irrigation systems in the country. Highlandlake still exists today approximately 1.5 miles west of Mead. Mead was incorporated in 1908 with a history tied to both farming and the railroad.

Events such as Community Day, a Fishing Derby and the Boil ‘n Boogie crawfish boil, offer food and entertainment for the whole family. An interesting trivia tidbit about Mead: Scenes from Die Hard 2 starring Bruce Willis were filmed in the area.
