Recognized as the county seat and founded in 1887, Eagle is rich in history. Originally a ranching and railroad town, the downtown area is comprised of historic buildings complete with their original facades. While it's true that many facets of the town harken back to it's ranching heritage, others reflect the strong growth over the past several years resulting in a diverse and welcoming community. Sitting at a lower elevation than much of Eagle County, the town of Eagle enjoys a milder climate than many other surrounding communities. Residents take advantage of these sunny, warmer days by visiting the many parks, open spaces, farmers markets, and festivals that Eagle has to offer. The town of Eagle is also home to the Eagle County Fair and Rodeo, an indoor NHL size ice rink, bike park, tennis courts and a large aquatic/pool center.
