At 9,318 feet, Silverton is one of the highest towns in the United States with snowy winters and mild summers. A former silver and gold mining town located in southwest Colorado, this small town is now a National Historic Landmark and part of the Million Dollar Highway.
Attractions:
During the summer the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad draws crowds in addition to rafting, Jeeping, all terrain vehicles, back country hiking, camping, mine tours, and more. In the winter, enjoy everything to do with snow: snowmobiling, extreme skiing on Silverton Mountain, ice climbing, ice fishing, sledding, and ice skating.
Real Estate:
Mountain homes with decent sized acreage can be throughout the town, many of which are within walking distance to skiing on Silverton Mountain. Enjoy your own piece of nature with the abundance of vacant land selections in the area. There is a limited inventory of commercial properties, most of which line the main street and provide great business opportunity.
